BLOOM in the Hood Wellness Summit

August 16th-17th, 2024 at the
DuSable Museum

The BLOOM in the Hood Wellness Summit is the latest violence prevention initiative from Free Root Operation which is on a mission to restore communities impacted by poverty-induced gun violence to safe, abundant, and liberated sites of Oasis.

This summit is for Black women and moms who are living in communities impacted by poverty-induced gun violence on the South and West Sides of Chicago. It will equip them and their families with tools and resources to BLOOM in the Hood this back-to-school season.

Our Why

We created this summit because we want to see more women and moms like you BLOOM! We know that thriving Black communities start with thriving women because the impact of our BLOOM Network is felt beyond the women and moms we serve. A past BLOOM participant shared that, “BLOOM has transformed my approach to wellness. I am actively seeking out different modes to heal and become a better mother. It allows my children to see me be more confident.” The healing and empowerment that is experienced by our BLOOM sisters trickels down to the youth and stakeholders they care for!

There is good in the hood. Our communities are not inherently violent, impoverished, or disorganized. Black communities desire and deserve well-being and investment. This event is another seed in the fertile soil of our work to restore Black communities to the gardens they're destined to be. Let's BLOOM in the Hood!
